Install the pack in three steps
- Create the mark and check the Browser preview — especially the tiny tab icon, where excessive detail disappears first.
- Download favicon-pack.zip and copy the files from its web folder to your public site directory.
- Paste favicon-snippet.html into your page head and link site.webmanifest. Deploy, then hard-refresh to bypass old favicon caches.
Small pixels need different judgment
Preview the size people actually see
A 512px source can look excellent while its 16px favicon becomes noise. The browser scene exposes that failure before download, with the same artwork in a tab and a larger site surface.
Do not fake one oversized ICO frame
An ICO is a container, not just a renamed PNG. This generator writes a valid directory and embeds three independently rendered sizes; the smallest frame is not left for an old browser to guess.
Privacy is structural
Rendering, resizing, ICO packing and ZIP creation all happen in this tab. The first use of a codec may download code, but no request carries your artwork.
Web
- A maskable PWA icon is masked by the platform in the same way an Android adaptive icon is, so the same centred safe area applies — an icon that fills its whole canvas will lose its edges.
- apple-touch-icon must not be transparent: iOS composites it onto black, so transparent areas come out as black patches on the home screen.
- A modern favicon.ico still carries 16, 32 and 48 pixel variants in one file — browsers and OS surfaces pick different ones.
